Responsibilities

  • Direct and report on analyst deliverables in support of project teams and task lead.
  • Assist the task lead on management of Bio-separation team focusing on vaccine projects.
  • Assist the task lead on management two analytical core capabilities (microfluidic and chromatography techniques).
  • Lead and represent the assay development group for multiple project teams, including multi-specific antibodies as well as novel vaccine projects.
  • Design, guide and oversee LNP analytical evaluation to support the new mRNA vaccine capability at VPP.
  • Direct excursion of studies in projects that are complex and scientifically demanding within a specific area/field.
  • Initiate, implement, plan, coordinate and execute scientific lab testing and method improvements, development and investigations.
  • Work with team scientists and associate scientists to carry out testing and data reports. Make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results. Demonstrate scientific rigor in assessing own data and that of others. Organize and generate big reports for designed study and investigations.
  • Contribute and take responsibility for team meeting project goals within time and budget constraints.
  • Independently plan, design, investigate, trouble shoot and execute projects within a specific scientific field utilizing good scientific judgment, and conduct more than one project at a time.
  • Develop research findings and make recommendations.
  • Utilize forward-looking perspective to contribute to “go/no go” decisions.
  • Make recommendations on outside technologies for VPP to pursue.
  • Act as a project scientific leader when assigned.
  • Critically review, think, and use scientific knowledge to make decisions on projects.
  • Think out of box for creativity; strategically thinks within and outside area of specialty.
  • Lead, direct and coordinate one or more peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry is required.
  • Minimum of at least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.
  • Must have expertise in the preparation of bio-separation assays and mass spectrometry assays.
  • Must have general knowledge of entire biopharmaceutical development process.

  • Will be required to be in contact with lasers in instrument and work with corrosive substances, inorganic dust and powders, heavy metals, plastics, solvents and sensitizing agents.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, face shields/goggles, safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat and disposable dust/surgical mask.
